My name is William. I'm a too-old gamer and a wannabe stay-at-home dog dad. Having grown up
leading the charge of the Millenial generation, everything I do and am revolves around technology
and a strong Wi-Fi signal (and the convenience of two-day shipping). I taught myself how to write and design websites, went to school
to be a novelist, and ended up graduating with a degree in psychology because, being a Virgo,
I need all of the answers all of the time.
My passion for writing and creating was nurtured by a wholly unhealthy teenage habit
of staying up until four in the morning
playing video games every school night. I loved the escape, the story, the adventure, the drama -
and vowed one day to be a part of all of that.
I wanted to create something interesting and meaningful. Having spent many years studying the
human psyche, I thought I had a unique opportunity to blend both the worlds
I have been living the last decade-plus. I'm not a journalist, I don't know how to write
a headline or market a product, but I think I can provide a perspective and a voice
that (most of you) should find interesting enough to visit once in a while. Please.
It's inevitable that, at some point during your exploration of psychology, you will find yourself
knee-deep in philosophy. For me, philosophy topics and classes were a precursor to many of my
university studies. One of the men we learned about was someone by the name of René Descartes.
He more or less coined the phrase "cogito, ergo sum."
"I think, therefore I am."
This site, LUDOSUM, is not a typical video games website. It's not meant to give you the latest
news or patch notes - it might, at times, but that isn't the goal here. LUDOSUM is an experience.
It's not meant to overtake any of your bookmarked sites, but rather supplement them.
You can call it a blog, a journal - and maybe it is, in a way. I really just want to share with
you the things that I find interesting and meaningful, whether it's an epic story, or a
powerful character, or a game I find myself coming
back to over and over again, or a challenge that pushed me to become better.
"Ludo sum" means "I am playing," to answer the question. "Ludos sum" means "I am games."
I thought it clever, maybe a little pretentious. I guess "clever and pretentious" could
describe the site well enough, too.
One can't write about video games without providing one of two things - news pieces or reviews.
While you might find some articles on the site that cover some current news or updates, most
of the content on the site is going to be some kind of a review.
I don't get free games or previews or first-looks - I am doing this because it's something I love to do, and
the games I play are games with which I connect. I like to think I play a little bit of
everything, but I'm a sucker for a good role-playing game - and doubly so if it's a multiplayer
experience.
Besides game reviews, you'll find reviews of game elements such as stories (maybe chapters or
specific missions) as well as individual characters. As I've mentioned, I graduated with a
degree in psychology, and part of the reason LUDOSUM was created was to provide deep-dives
into some of your favorite characters.
I don't intend to limit myself to one type of piece or another. I encourage you
to look around and explore the site.
